Disclaimer : We're not really in the middle, we're actually somewhere towards the end of the street. The cool end though, don't worry.
I bought this house 4 years ago after 3 years of saving up by living in a Motorhome on Hampstead Lane in Highgate, North London and eating only tins of tuna and spinach. You know, the average dystopian lifestyle adjustments required in order to be able to buy a house these days. The winters were toughest, but I'm here now and that's what matters. Tried to purchase a house on two previous occasions in Hertfordshire just outside of London, and when they both fell through I took it as a sign and found this place in Herne Bay. I'd never been to Kent before so did it all on instinct and faith. You know when you feel The Universe guiding you but you can't explain why? It was like that.
I've been renting rooms out here since I moved and I've met some amazing people and made some great friends. I think there have been about 8 different people who have lived here over the last 4 years. Some have stayed for a few months, some for a year, some for longer. It doesn't really make much difference to me, I try to be as flexible and accomodating to people's needs, especially at a time when the World is so unpredicatable and people's cicumstances can change overnight. I wouldn't want to tie anyone into a 12 month contract when the future is so uncertain for a lot of people. I know we're living in Late-Stage Capitalism and its horribly unfair for the majority of us, but I think what I'm offering here with the price attached is pretty good...I would like to think that I'm being decent and fair. (As an aside, I think private rentals are way out of control and I myself would never ever purchase a second property as a buy-to-let. I don't agree with it. I think it should be the law that individuals can only own ONE property. That would fix the 'housing crisis' overnight, I guarantee it.)
In the 4 years that I've been renting out rooms, I've realized that you either click or you don't, and that's just the way things are. I find that it's best when the people you are living with just 'get it' the same way that you do... Everyone who has lived here has 'got it' and the dynamic has always been good for everyone. We're the sort of people that are happy to socialize but also aren't needy like that. There's no pressure at all is what I'm trying to say, and I think that's important.
Everything is included in the one price, bills, council tax, water, internet etc... we're 2 minutes from Reculver National Park, 5 minutes from the beach.. there's off street parking out front, there's great coffee here that I always buy, with a Sage Bambino Plus and two Sage Grinder Pros (one decaf)... I buy really good Greek Olive Oil sourced from one specific region in Crête from the cash and carry for everyone to use, I buy all the cleaning products, bin bags etc, there's always Palo Santo here that everyone can use, and incense... we have a spare room that we hang laundry in so it's not all over the place... there's a log burning stove that everyone can use whenever they want, I buy the wood, and I'm not tight with the heating or anything like that... everyone is welcome to have guests of course. Most things for the house that we need I will buy. I'm very easy going. I think if everyone just treats each other with kindness and respect then everything works.
Clara has just left us and moved back to Spain with her cute little doggie and we'll miss them very much of course, but there is now a room available. It's just Emma and I at the moment and I'm in London for 3 days a week so I guess it also gets a bit lonely here. Emma and I are both very friendly and clean and tidy, so it would be great if you are the same. We're good people! Ideally we would both prefer if another Girl moved in. Personally, I prefer living with girls, I just find that we get on better in a living type situation. Nothing against guys at all that's just my personal preference!
Also pets are very welcome. If you have a dog or a cat we will love them as much as you I'm sure!
If you like what you've seen and you think that you will fit in and match the vibe then please do send us a message and we can arrange a viewing to all say 'Hi', and see if we click. No hard feelings either way if we don't, but I hope we do!
Very Best Wishes to All! 🙏
