Hello! We are a friendly French-English household who would love to welcome a student into our home and make them feel part of the family while they stay with us. We are both from France, and speak French and English at home.

I am Audrey! A mother to two daughters in their 20s who live away from home. My 19-year-old niece also lives here and is studying at the University of Kent. We have a room each in the top floor of the house, (three stories house)

We also share our home with many pets! 9 to be exact! Including have three dogs, four cats and two outdoor dwarf rabbits, many of these pets are rescued. All of our pets are well-loved, friendly and get along very well with each other, so being comfortable around animals is very important for us.

We are sociable and would be happy to include our student in family life. You are welcome to share meals, walk the dogs, spend time with us, etc! At the same time, we appreciate our alone time and understand the importance of privacy- especially when studying, so there will be balance between being part of the household and having time to yourself.

We are also very happy to provide home-cooked meals and want our student to feel comfortable and well looked after during their stay. We can also provide references for students who would like to hear about our experience as hosts!

Our home is three stories. The two bedrooms on the top floor are mine and my nieces. The middle floor has two bedrooms (the ones I have listed!) there is a shared bathroom on this floor and a living room on this floor also, with a big TV and a balcony. Downstairs there is a small toilet, the kitchen and a small living-room area. There is also a garden, where our bunnies live! The animals have access to all areas of the house, however you do not have to allow them in your room if you prefer not to.

We live very close to the beach, which is perfect for walks and enjoying the seaside. There are also charity shops nearby! We live in Westgate-on-Sea and the high-street here is very cute and has 3 charity shops. Margate and Birchington are very close and they have many charity shops, cafes, and things to do.

While we do not live next door to the universities in Canterbury, they are very easy to get to. My niece-living with me- attends the University of Kent and takes the bus to her classes daily, it takes 45 minutes to reach Canterbury by bus, we would be happy to explain the buses/train routes to you.

I personally love making things such as handmade soaps, lip balms, washing powder, cleaning products and homemade bread:)

More than just providing a room, we'd love to give a student the opportunity to feel part of a family:)
