Lovely double bedroom w/ en suite - friendly house

Our lovely housemate Henry is, alas, leaving us to move in with his girlfriend which means we have a great room in our house up for grabs! Available from Saturday 5th September.

🏡 The room
It’s a garden view room with a snazzy en suite. The bedroom comes with the double bed and mattress, some clothes storage, a wardrobe (not pictured) and a bookcase. The en suite has a rainfall shower, toilet and sink.

🤩 The house
You’ll be sharing with four others in this detached PALACE. It has a huge sitting room, dining space, a conservatory (or orangery, as we like to call it), a fantastic kitchen (featuring massive cooker and many Le Creuset accessories) and a delightful garden that we’re planting herbs in. The house has a washer and a dryer and space for storing bikes.

You’ll be living with Grace, Chris, David and Andy. Grace does law things. Chris is Grace’s brother and is studying medicine. David is a programmer. Andy is a case worker. We've lived with each other for over two years and we’ve all become friends — we enjoy watching Netflix together, we host the occasional house party, sometimes we do the Alexandra Palace park run (which is a five minute walk away from the house). Last year we went to the Darts at Ally Pally dressed as characters from Mario. We’ve also hosted Christmas dinners and enjoy Bake Off. It’s great fun. Join the fun, won’t you?

🐈‍⬛ There’s also George, our lovely and talkative (especially at 9am when he wants Sheba) cat. George enjoys laser pointers, his scratching post and would probably enjoy a long walk on the beach but we haven’t tried that yet.

The big thing is that we’re a group of people who all genuinely want to make this place a home. To that end, each night (Monday to Thursday) one of us cooks (mostly veggie but by no means exclusively so) for the others. On Saturdays someone will try to do a bit of brunch. It’s a fairly flexible affair; we don’t have set days, but we’d like it if you’d be keen to take part.

It’s worth saying that we don’t all sit down all the time together. We each have busy lives, but it’s nice when there’s food waiting for you when you come back from the pub or a bad Hinge date. Lovely though you may be, if you have very strong dietary considerations this setup may not work. When messaging about the room, we’d love to hear what sort of things you enjoy cooking or eating. There are no wrong answers, don’t worry. That and a bit about yourself and your interests.

🚂 The area
We’re supremely well-connected: less than 5 minutes walk away from Alexandra Palace train station (easy route to Finsbury Park and Moorgate); Wood Green tube station is 10 minutes away.

💰 The costs: costs, rent and bills (council tax, water, energy, wifi) comes to £1100. The energy can fluctuate somewhat based on usage but we have locked in the price we pay with Octopus. We handle fluctuations via Splitwise (more on that below).

The deposit for the room is £923, payable to the departing housemate. We can provide evidence of the deposit protection scheme information and are working with our landlord to create the appropriate tenancy document changes, too.

We also run a Splitwise for when people buy soap or other household items. We try not to be too precious over things like eggs or milk but if you buy something special, shove your initials on it and it’ll be left alone. Each person has a space in the fridge and we try to keep honest with a rotating house chores rota. Usually that means one of us prods the others.

The landlord
The tenancy is via Foxtons but we barely deal with them as the landlord manages things himself. He lives locally and has fixed things when they’ve needed to be urgently fixed. Other than that, we don’t see him _that_ often.
