We have a large double room available in this extended and architecturally refurbished Victorian terrace, situated on a quiet residential road. The room gets the morning sun and is furnished with a double bed/mattress, desk and chest of drawers etc. We also have some basement space to store the bed/mattress if someone has their own.
We’re an artist/record producer with a background in maths and art, an investigative journalist with a passion for climbing, a graphic designer with a passion for reading, and an assistant director in film/television, looking for someone to join our relaxed, calm, sociable, and curious house.
This is very much a home where we chat and catch up after work, whilst also having our own busy lives and respecting each other's independence. Housemates regularly travel for work etc, so despite there being five bedrooms there are often only a couple of housemates at home.
The house has 3 bathrooms between the 5 bedrooms, meaning there are no morning queues.
We have a shared living/cinema room and a huge open plan kitchen/dining room with 2.6m high bifold doors that fully open onto a patio and garden. The kitchen has a six burner Smeg range stove, full height fridge and full height freezer. There are two massive skylights so you get light throughout the day. The kitchen itself is bespoke made of birch plywood with oak parquet floor and underfloor heating. The separate living/cinema room has a 1080p projector/amp and speaker setup for a wall-sized cinematic/gaming experience. We have 500Mb Up/Down fibre internet, with a mesh WiFi network throughout the house + ethernet ports. Dishwasher, large energy efficient washing machine and separate tumble dryer. Additionally we have a basement with space for storage. We attempted a wildflower meadow in the garden last year, which has become more of a meadow lawn this year.
The house is situated on a lovely quiet road of terraced houses as part of the Wells Way Triangle, and is in close proximity to Burgess Park (good for parkrun!) and Camberwell high street, as well as Rye Lane/Bellenden Road. There's a really nice community feel in the area amongst the neighbours, with a local community greening group and an annual street party held each summer, and it's a short walk to all the restaurants/pubs/cinema in Peckham and Camberwell.
I own the house so there are no agent hassles. There's a standard lodger agreement with a 6 month minimum contract and ideally we're looking for someone who's looking for a home and is looking to stay for longer than that.
Rent is £1100 a month and the deposit is one month’s rent.
Bills (utilities, cleaner etc) are split equally between the housemates and have been averaging out as around £125 each per month.
We have a cleaner who comes for three hours every week to clean the communal areas and as a grown up house/home, we endeavour to keep the house in a clean and tidy state for all to enjoy. There is also a very friendly neighbour's cat called Pumpkin who visits and is a big fan of belly rubs.
The room is available from Saturday the 14th of November. If you think the house might be a good fit, please send us a message with some information about yourself including :
