Heya!
We’re a townhouse shared by four women (Australian, Irish, and Scottish), with one room freeing up from the end of May.
The house:
- Built in Nov 2018, and everything still feels/looks pretty new
- Ground floor: big lounge with impressively high ceilings, half-bath, big storage room where we mostly keep shoes
- 1st floor: kitchen and dining area, overlooking the lounge. There’s also a balcony that looks out over the front of the house and across a little canal
- 2nd floor: two double bedrooms (one would be your room), bathroom, and storage area
3rd floor: two double bedrooms, bathroom, storage area, and a laundry closet (washing machine and dryer)
The building itself is great, with nice amenities:
- 24-hour concierge service
- Residents’ gym
- Coffee shop (Mousetail)
- Residents’ lounge with table football, kitchen, and lots of space to work
- A rooftop garden, including a rooftop tennis court
The room:
- Modern room with simple furniture (double bed, 2 side tables, large built-in wardrobe, and chest of drawers)
- The house comes with all the furniture shown in the pictures :)
Timings:
1 June (from end of May)
Rent, Fees & Bills:
- £1000 pcm rent (subject to a slight increase after the tenancy is updated)
- Other bills per month approx. £150
- Council Tax Band G
About us:
We’re a pretty busy household. Between work and social lives, there isn’t a huge amount of overlap at home, so you’ll often have the place to yourself. Even when others are around, it can still feel that way. The kitchen is generally the social hub. If someone’s in there, they’re usually up for a chat. Otherwise, we tend to do our own thing.
That said, we’re a really friendly bunch! We’ve got the standard group chat (lots of banter, nothing passive aggressive), and we like spending time together when our schedules line up. If we’re all around, we’re always down for a drink (The Mayflower) or a meal (also The Mayflower). We tend to invite each other along to things from time to time, but the house itself isn’t really the “hang out” house.
Everyone is pretty tidy, respectful of shared spaces, and mindful of each other’s routines. Overall, it’s a really nice balance of having your own space while living with people you genuinely like.
The area:
Canada Water is great! I think it would consider itself very “up-and-coming," there have been lots of efforts lately to make it an even nicer place to live. Our house is really conveniently located just a 2-minute walk from Canada Water Station, where you can grab the Jubilee line or Overground. There are plenty of nice restaurants and bars (Canada Water Cafe, Vagabond, Mayflower, etc.), and a Sainsbury’s Local right next to the station. Even better, there’s a big Tesco just a 5-minute walk away.
Let us know if you have any questions!
