Please read the full description before getting in touch, as this is a slightly different kind of house share!
We have a lovely small room available in our spacious two-storey flat on Devon's Road.
The unique bit...
This isn't your average SpareRoom ad!
I have a wonderful little dog who splits his time between my home and his co-parent's home in London. Because of this, I'm offering the room at a subsidised rent in exchange for someone who is happy to keep him company while I'm at work.
He stays here for roughly two weeks each month (alternating with time at his other home). During the weeks he's here, I'd need someone who is usually around:
7:15am–10:00am (he may need a short morning walk)
Around 3:00pm for another quick walk
Between those times, he's happy to chill on his own for a few hours. He's a sweet, friendly, sociable little guy who absolutely loves people. He's quite independent and happily entertains himself with his toys—as long as someone is home. We're still working on his confidence with being left alone, so he shouldn't be by himself for more than about three hours at a time.
There are no financial responsibilities for him at all—food, vet bills, grooming, etc. are all covered by me. I'm simply looking for someone who genuinely enjoys dogs and is happy to have him as a daytime companion. There are no dog responsibilities in the evenings or at weekends, as I'm usually home by around 5pm.
I'm also happy to work out a flexible arrangement with the right person if your schedule isn't exactly the same every day.
The most important thing is that you're a genuine dog lover and are happy to make this commitment.
About us
I work in education and I'm a trans femme. I live with a fabulous cis woman who also works in education. We're both queer, friendly, tidy and enjoy a good balance of socialising and having our own space.
We both love cooking and have a habit of making far too much food, so if you're a foodie, you'll probably be well looked after!
As we're both out at work during the day, you'll often have the flat to yourself (and, of course, your four-legged housemate when he's here).
We're looking for someone who'll enjoy being part of a relaxed, welcoming home. Queer people are especially welcome, but more importantly we're looking for someone who is genuinely LGBTQ+ friendly, kind and respectful.
The room
The room is cosy rather than huge, but it's been thoughtfully set up with:
Wall-mounted hanging rails
Shelving
A small built-in cupboard
Additional storage outside the room for clothes, shoes and other bits
The current tenant is also selling the daybed for £50 if you'd like to keep it.
The flat
The flat is spacious and split over two floors, with:
A large kitchen
Comfortable living room
Large balcony
Bathroom with bath/shower
Separate toilet
We're also in the middle of redecorating, so there's plenty of opportunity for the new housemate to help make the space feel like home.
The details
£500 per month, all bills included
Fortnightly cleaner included
£540 deposit
Available from 9th August
We'll be arranging viewings as soon as possible, and we'd love potential housemates to meet both us and our gorgeous little dog to make sure everyone feels it's the right fit.
If this sounds like your kind of home, we'd love to hear from you. It might be an unusual setup, but it's a great opportunity to live in a friendly, welcoming household, enjoy affordable rent, and spend time with a very lovable pup.
