We have just moved into a house in Forest Gate and are looking for one or two glorious humans to be part of turning this house into a home.
We've both spent years living in various communities, warehouses, boats and the like. We would love to create some of that spirit here: communal, creative, supportive, generous and full of life.
Our home is a home where we do stuff together, between the residents and the visitors alike. Make music, host events - cabarets, talent shows, guitar socials, and any ideas you want to bring to the game! We want to share our time and love with folks rather than have someone rent a room and stick to it.
We have been creating a space where everyone should feel welcome and enjoy it. We would love to build on this further. We want that to extend to who we live with, having them feel welcome to use, adjust and contribute to the space so that when they are here they feel comfy to be themselves and at home.
The house itself is a work in progress. Everything you need to live exists and works. Showers, toilets, cookers, stove, heating, a fish toilet seat, a fish poacher... in the decor, fitting and the like - the previous dweller was incredibly resourceful and has really Heath Robinson-ed the place. There are loads of nooks and crannies that we are discovering, some need removing, some need fixing, and most importantly - a lot need us, and you, to evolve it into it's next form.
There are a couple of rooms available:
- One larger room with an ensuite and skylights.
- One tiny room for someone who's a wee bit skint but values having lots of shared space and community around them.
Who are we?
James
James loves music. Currently learning the banjo, and will hopefully have the synths out soon. Loves cabaret, making inappropriately sized costumes, climbing, hiking, community, and is often the last one standing at a party. He works as for a climate tech company in software.
Mel
Mel spent three years hitchhiking around the world and still has a steady stream of friends passing through from those travels. She loves silliness, cackling, hiking, camping, folk music, learning guitar, and filling houses and fields with gorgeous souls. Mel is finishing a PhD in psychology working on a clinical trial investigating compassion focused therapy for mood in people with dementia.
We are a couple.
Who are you?
We have no expectations bar the want to get involved and are open to all beings.
Tell us about yourself, what excites you, what you want from a space and it's people, and what you can bring to it?
Excited to hear from you.
Love James and Mel x
P. S The photos are the ones the estate agent popped up, its a lil chaotic with our boxes at the min!
