Hi! I'm looking for a female flatmate (no couples, sorry) to share a lovely 2-bedroom flat in Hackney Central, available from 15th October.

📍 Location: Hackney Central
💷 Rent: £1,200 per month + approximately £150 bills
💷 Deposit: £1326.92
🏛️Council Tax band D
🛏️ Spacious double bedroom with your own private ensuite bathroom
🚇 5-minute walk to Hackney Central (Mildmay line) and 8 minutes to Hackney Wick (Weaver line), with plenty of buses into East and Central London.
🏠 Tucked away just off Mare Street in a quiet gated development, the flat is bright, modern and very peaceful. It has a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher and washing machine, plus huge windows that let in loads of natural light.

Everything you need is within a five-minute walk: several supermarkets, greengrocers, cafés, restaurants, pharmacies, the post office, gyms and everything else Mare Street has to offer.

The room comes furnished with a bed frame (no mattress), double wardrobe, dining table and chairs. The sofa, kitchen equipment and tableware belong to the current tenant, but you're very welcome to use them.

A bit about me

I'm Barbara, a 32-year-old Portuguese professional working in digital transformation in local government. I work from home and the office and have an active social life, but I also really value cosy evenings at home.

Outside work, you'll usually find me travelling, spending time with friends, making the most of the sunshine whenever it appears, watching Formula 1, running, discovering new pubs and restaurants, or trying to convince myself to read more books. I also love cooking, sharing a glass of wine, and the occasional pub trip.

I'm tidy and considerate without being obsessive. I like the flat to feel clean, calm and welcoming, and I think open communication and mutual respect go a long way towards making a house enjoyable :)

I didn't want to be the one doing all the talking, so I asked my current flatmate, Helen, to describe what it's like living with me:

What's it like living with barbara?
BB is a such a gem to live with, if you asked me to describe this in a few points i would say she is:
- really thoughtful and kind
- sociable and super easy to talk to (but also likes her own time)
- she's very funny, sometimes creates new 'english' idioms with a portuguese twist

In terms of things you probably care about in a flat she is also very clean and tidy, remembers to buy important things like coffee so you never go without, quite good at catching small spiders, and makes delicious food she might share with you. BB is a calm and easygoing person to share a space with, she loves a guinness in the winter and lying in the park reading book in the summer. If you're interested in the flat (which is also gorgeous) consider this an invitation for a new friend as well as a flatmate, she's wicked.

Who I'm looking for

I'm looking for someone who wants to live in a home, not just rent a room. Someone who is friendly, easygoing and respectful.

Ideally, you're another professional with a Monday-to-Friday routine and a similar balance of working from home and the office. More importantly, you're considerate, reliable, communicate openly, and treat the home with care.

I'm not expecting us to become best friends, but it'd be nice to occasionally have a chat after work, share a meal or a drink, or watch something together from time to time. At the same time, I also value having our own lives and respecting each other's space.

I enjoy having friends over for dinner or drinks every now and then, and I occasionally have family or friends from back home staying for a few days. I'd be more than happy for you to do the same!

Ideally, I'm looking for someone planning to stay long term, so we can both settle into the flat and make it feel like home.

If this sounds like your kind of place, send me a message telling me a little about yourself - what you do, what you're looking for in a house share, and anything else you'd like me to know. I'd love to arrange a viewing and see if we'd be a good fit :)
