Hi! We’re looking for a new flatmate to take over the room of one of our lovely housemates, who has just moved back to the US.
About us
Rania (early 30s, Greek) is a tattoo artist. She spends a lot of time at work, often until late in the evening, and a good part of the rest at her boyfriend’s, so she’s usually here only two nights a week.
Mathilde (early 40s, French) sells vintage watches and works in French publishing. She works from home during the week but is often away at weekends at her girlfriend’s.
We get on really well. Sometimes we cross paths, sometimes we don’t, but when we bump into each other in the kitchen, we’re always happy to have a chat and we have a good laugh.
The flat
It’s genuinely big, with more space than most flatshares. There are two bathrooms: you’d share the one in the photos with Rania. We also have a fourth bedroom that we currently keep as a guest room, so friends and family can stay over now and then.
A cleaner comes every two weeks.
The flat is on the second floor, with no lift.
The location
We’re literally next door to Dalla restaurant, five minutes from the big Tesco on Morning Lane and about ten minutes’ walk from Hackney Central. There are bus stops right under our windows that take you pretty much everywhere, and London Fields and Broadway Market are ten minutes away by bus.
The room
Let’s be honest: it’s the smallest room in the flat. But the window is south facing, and it gets direct sunlight. It will be available on the 1st December and is freshly repainted.
The previous flatmate left her double bed frame, so you’d just need to buy a mattress. She also left a small wardrobe and a bedside table: you can keep them if you like, or we’ll get rid of them.
The other option
The guest room is much bigger, but it has no window, only a skylight. It’s actually quite bright, there’s just no view outside, so it really depends on how you’d like to use the room. You’ll be able to see both rooms during the viewing and choose the one you prefer.
Who we’re looking for
This is a calm home, not a party flat. It’s a place to come back to, rest and recharge. We might have friends over for dinner or family staying once in a while, but most of the time it’s quiet, and we want to keep it that way.
Ideally you are:
- a woman, over 30, working outside the home
- tidy and respectful
- a good communicator
- happy to get involved in the life of the flat (decorating, changing furniture, fixing things), someone who sees it as a real home and wants to take care of it
- open to a friendly relationship over time, with no pressure, and someone who also enjoys their own space
We’re fully queer friendly. Unfortunately, we’re not allowed to have pets, even though we love animals.
How to apply
Please tell us as much as you can about yourself in your message. We’re not just looking for someone to pay the rent, but for someone we’ll get on with. We may not be able to reply to everyone, but we’ll get back to the people who feel like a good fit. Viewings will be grouped on a few days before the end of October (dates TBC).
Looking forward to hearing from you!
