We have a large double room available from approximately 21st of September in our large and bright warehouse conversion in Manor House. The room has a high ceiling, a small mezzanine and skylights with a window that opens to the actual outside. Rent is £850pcm and this includes all bills and wifi. Deposit is one month’s rent. Couple's tax is £150 extra on top each month.
There’s 18 rooms and 18 housemates in total, but it’s honestly doesn’t get very intense. We are between 26 and 40+ in age and work in different areas such as photography, music, science, academia, illustration, video editing, architecture, VR, fashion, and so forth. This is quite a civilised warehouse with occasional weekend fun and noise and would suit someone who’s quite chill during the week but wouldn’t mind the occasional get-together on the weekend. We enjoy (quite special…) house dinners, drinks, going to parties/dancing, watching films on the projector and street BBQs in summer, but there’s also plenty of space to do your own thing. Some of us have lived together for longer than we’d like to talk about, so we are ideally looking for someone who wants to help make this place a home, who’s housetrained and in their late twenties to mid forties to fit in with our mixed crew, and you’ll get bonus points if you’re up for digging in and contributing to the odd house improvement here and there! But, having said this, we’re not perfect saints either, and we organise 2-3 properly good house parties per year, and there’s also some cheeky ravers living amongst us… ;)
We welcome queer people and people of colour.
There’s an open-plan kitchen and living room with plenty of plants, a piano and a projector. We also have two cats, but they’re a bit shy (you can look but not touch!). There’s a dedicated work/art area in the back, and we have a weekly cleaner for communal areas. We share the cost for the cleaner with our landlords and this comes to roughly £5 per month. We also have a weekly kitchen rota and pay communally for shared house supplies such as tp, dishwasher tabs and so forth (+/- £20 every 3 months).
As some of us are working from home more than usual at the moment, the work space would be best suited for someone who can do their thing without impacting too much on those who need to concentrate on their computer screens during the week, so any full-time wood-working ambitions would need to be lived out elsewhere, but fun projects are always welcome! We do try to accommodate all of us, so we’re happy to chat about what you might need.
The house is located about a 10-15 minute walk from Manor House, Seven Sisters and Stamford Hill stations and is about 20-30 minutes away from Stoke Newington Church Street.
Please PM me with some info about yourself if you’d like to come for a viewing. Include your age, occupation, interests, and anything else that would describe you as a person and housemate - we’re not able to invite everyone who replies for a viewing, so please give us something to work with. ;)
Viewings will be held on Tuesday Sept 13th between 8 and 10pm.
