A double room in a lovely area, close to a train station.

ABOUT THE ROOM AND FLAT

The double room is relatively small (it has a double bed and a speciaous wardrobe and a chest of drawers) but the flat itself is very spacious and bright, and you'd have full use of it... we mostly hang out in the kitchen anyway, which has a balcony with a nice view. There is a very big living room as well, and a lot of storage space that you can use outside of the room, if needed. The flat is dry and stays warm in the winter. Furniture was bought brand new when Dom moved in 4 years ago, and the fridge was replaced then as well, and a new washing machine was put in June 2018. Very importantly, the landlord, who lives abroad, is super nice and relaxed and makes sure that any isseus are taken care of immediately through an agency.

Room is available from 20 September 2019.
Rent is £700 per month including all bills, which (by crazy London standards) I'm told is a good price for the area. One month's deposit needed.

ABOUT THE AREA

Herne Hill is a lovely and well connected neighbourhood. There are local shops and Herne Hill station (zone 2) is just 3-4 min walk away with frequent trains taking you to Brixton (2min), Victoria (9 min), Elephant & Castle/ Blackfriars (9min), Kings Cross/St Pancras (20min), plus local buses.
Brockwell Park is also 4min walk away - it's a great park and a perfect place when the weather is nice. Every year the park hosts the Lambeth Country Show and Mighty Hoopla - so you're close to entertainment but the flat is still quiet.

There is a small Tesco and Sainbury's just around the corner and a big Sainsbury's just across the park. Brixton Village and Pop Brixton are just 15min walking (6 min bus, 2 min train) away.

ABOUT US

You'll be sharing with two gay guys (not a couple).
Camille (35) - French, works for a peace making NGO - super nice and easy going and a great conversationalist, likes art/cultural events, jogging and cycling, he often travels internationally for work, he has lived in the flat for nearly 3 years.

Dom (35) British-Polish, works at a university and is completing a PhD on racism in education, very passionate about social justice, regular gym goer, travels often internationally for pleasure, he has lived in the flat for over 4 years, handles all the admin for the flat.

We may be a bit of "intellectuals" but we are NOT introverts locked in ivory towers, so we enjoy good company, we often have family and friends over and other guests (wink wink, we're gay after all) - it's a friendly and open environment, with a good balance of socialising and privacy when needed - so if you want to just keep to yourself it may not be the best place for you. We are easy going when it comes to sharing the space - we share things like coffee, pasta/rice, fruit, any food we know we won't eat before it goes off, we often eat dinners together (be it prepared separately or sharing a meal), we share cleaning responsibilities, etc.

We ask that you be:
- reasonably clean (clean the kitchen and bathroom after you use them, and contribute to overall tidiness - there's no roster of cleaning duties, we just do it when we see it's needed)
- respectful
- easy going
- gay friendly.
