Double room in a friendly 2-bed flat in Highbury

Hi! Sadly my amazing flatmate is moving abroad, so there’s a lovely double room up for grabs in our two-bed flat in Highbury, available from 14 December. We are also flexible on the move-in date if you’d need to move in slightly later.

I’ve lived in this flat together with my flatmate for 3 years. We originally met through SpareRoom and have become great friends, so I’d love to find someone I can have a similar experience with!

THE ROOM & FLAT

The room is a comfortable size and comes furnished with a bedframe, wardrobe and desk, which is handy if you work from home. The whole flat gets loads of natural light. There’s a living room, a separate kitchen, good storage, and a bathroom with a shower plus a separate toilet.

We have a great, responsive landlord and a really good relationship with him, so any issues get sorted quickly.

THE LOCATION

We’re an 8-minute walk from Canonbury (Overground) and 15 minutes from Highbury & Islington (Victoria line). It’s a very green area, with Clissold Park just 5 minutes away, and it’s right between vibrant Angel and Dalston. There’s a Tesco Express 5 minutes away, and if you’re sporty, there are gyms close by, West Reservoir is nearby for outdoor swimming and The Castle is close for bouldering.

ABOUT ME

I’m 28 and work in sustainability and human rights at a green energy company. I moved to London 6 years ago to study my master’s and I’m a third-culture kid who’s moved around a fair bit, but now call London home.

I love travelling and keeping active, whether that’s hiking, a bouldering session or a swim. Most weeks, you will find me at salsa or bachata after work, but I also enjoy cooking, the cinema, or having a drink at a cosy pub.

I’m clean and tidy without being obsessive, and very relaxed and easy to talk to. I work from home 2-4 days a week from my room, but I’m easy about schedules and happy whether you’re working from the office or at home.

WHO I’M LOOKING FOR

A girl between 26-31 in full-time employment who’d like a homely flat where we get on well. It would be nice to share a few things together occasionally, like cooking dinner, going for a swim or grabbing a glass of wine. But I also have my own thing going, and I’m very happy for us to have our own space as well.

A reference check and proof of sufficient income will be required for the landlord.

RENT & BILLS

The rent is £1,050 pcm, excluding bills, which is a steal for the area. Bills come to roughly £130-150 per person per month, covering everything including electricity, gas, water, Wi-Fi and council tax.

The deposit is £975 and is held in a deposit protection scheme.
