[ALL-FEMALE HOUSEHOLD]
Hello!
I'm subletting my much-loved room in our lovely, renovated house in De Beauvoir Town while I head home to Canada for an extended holiday. I work at a climate think tank and study at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), and I'd be really happy to share my home with someone looking for a peaceful, spacious and well-connected place to stay in London.
**The room **
The room is exceptionally spacious, bright and colourful, with its own cosy living area, a double bed, sofa, bookshelves, a full-length mirror, dresser, and a dedicated workspace, including a desk, monitor and desk lamp that you're welcome to use.
It's a warm, relaxed space filled with books and plants, with plenty of room to work, unwind and make yourself at home. I'll also be leaving my books, candles and little everyday essentials, like pens and stationery, for you to enjoy and use during your stay. I really want whoever stays here to feel at home and have everything they need to settle in comfortably. It's particularly well suited to someone working remotely or studying who appreciates having a comfortable living space beyond just a bedroom.
The room is located on the upper floor of our two-storey house, alongside the shared kitchen. The other two bedrooms and large shared bathroom are downstairs. This means you're the only person with a bedroom upstairs, offering a wonderful sense of privacy and independence - almost like having your own little studio within a friendly house share!
One of my favourite things about the room is how peaceful it is. The windows overlook a quiet inner courtyard, with views of an old bottle factory, our courtyard garden and tall trees in the distance. It gets beautiful natural light on sunny days, and being tucked away from the street, it's wonderfully quiet and private, with no direct overlooking from neighbouring homes.
As this is my personal home, some belongings will remain neatly stored away in half of a closet, but you will have ample room for your belongings there as well, and in a full dresser and other storage areas in the room (and house).
**The house and flatmates**
You'll be sharing with two lovely women in their early to mid-30s. One is from New Zealand and works in marketing, while the other is from Colombia and works and studies in fashion and innovation management.
We have a warm, friendly and relaxed atmosphere at home. We're all friends and enjoy the occasional coffee, chat or glass of wine together, but we're equally independent and respectful of one another's routines, space and quiet time. It's a lovely balance of having a sense of community while maintaining plenty of independence.
There isn't a communal living room, as the house is arranged with the two downstairs bedrooms and shared bathroom on the lower floor, and your room and the shared kitchen upstairs. However, your room has its own generous lounge area, so you'll have plenty of private space to relax.
The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you might need, including an oven, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, cookware, dishes and everyday essentials such as spices and cooking oils.
The house is also well heated during winter (which the flat controls), and I have an extra heater for your use, as needed!
We also have access to a large shared garden with outdoor furniture. I especially enjoy having my morning coffee or working outside when the weather is nice, as the Wi-Fi reaches the garden too.
PS. one flatmate may be here during the holidays so the home won't feel empty during the festive season! There's an inflatable mattress if you'd like a friend to come for a visit for a night or two during the holiday season (you just need to ask the flat mates).
**The neighbourhood and getting around**
De Beauvoir Town is a wonderful little pocket of London with the nearby river walk, regent's canal, and camden passage - leafy, peaceful and full of character, with beautiful residential streets, independent cafés, local shops and lovely neighbourhood pubs.
We're close to De Beauvoir Square, the much-loved De Beauvoir Deli and Regent's Canal, which is perfect for walks and exploring the neighbourhood. It's an especially lovely area if you enjoy the quieter, more residential side of London while still having everything the city offers within easy reach.
The area is very well connected by bus, Overground and Tube. Approximate connections from De Beauvoir Town include:
- Haggerston and Dalston Junction: Around 10–20 minutes on foot for Overground connections.
- Angel and Camden Passage: Around 15-20 minutes on foot or a short bus journey, with lovely cafés, antique shops, markets and restaurants.
- Canonbury: Approximately 10 minutes on foot, with Overground connections.
- Highbury & Islington: Around 20 minutes on foot or accessible by public transport, with Victoria line and Overground connections.
- King's Cross / St Pancras: Approximately 15-20 minutes by bus.
- Central London: Many destinations are reachable in around 25–40 minutes by bus or underground, depending on where you're headed.
It's a wonderful location for experiencing London while having a quiet, comfortable place to come home to.

**A little about who we're looking for**
We're ideally looking for a woman in her late 20s to 30s who would feel at home in our existing household.
The room would be particularly well suited to a remote-working professional, postgraduate student or visiting academic looking for a comfortable and peaceful base in London.
As this is my personal home, I'm hoping to find someone kind, considerate and responsible who will enjoy the space and take good care of it while I'm away. I'd also really appreciate someone happy to water my plants occasionally!
Most importantly, we'd love someone who appreciates the friendly, relaxed atmosphere of our home — someone who enjoys the occasional coffee, conversation or shared evening, while equally respecting everyone's independence and personal space.

If this sounds like a good fit, please get in touch and tell me a little about yourself, what you're looking for, and confirm whether you're available for a full two months from 11 December to 11 February (and whether you'd be interested in extending until 21 February).
