Room available in a converted factory/warehouse @ £900pcm (ex council tax & bills/approx £100pcm). Available on the 15th August.
It’s a loft style room with high ceilings/exposed brickwork and two large windows which face the morning sunrise. It has a mezzanine bed, which gives you the benefit of all the available floorspace beneath. It's currently furnished with a sofa, wardrobe & there’s a mattress, these can disappear though if you don’t need them.
This is one of the last truly spectacular old style warehouses left in Haggerston, it’s part of a group of spaces inhabited by an eclectic mix of people; you won't find many others like this in zone 2.
There are five bedrooms surrounding a communal area that is a colossal 1200 sq ft, featuring some characterful antiques and vintage collectables. There’s a huge overhead skylight, which gives plenty of natural daylight, ideal for the giant house plants!
There’s even a pulpit! (Great for sermons, political manifestos or just generally preaching to the converted).
Wowsers! I hear you cry this place looks like a film set! Well there is a reason for that, it’s because it is sometimes a film set. The main space is fairly regularly hired out for photographic shoots & filming, please bear this in mind as it could be an inconvenience to you if you’re not the flexible type.
I’ve been living here for many years and have nurtured a sense of belonging & family within all the inhabitants. There’s currently some lovely humans residing here. It’s important that any new person can share that sense of community and have an appreciation for their surroundings and flatmates. This includes a proactive approach to keeping things running smoothly. Not averse to a spot of cleaning (there is a cleaning rota), emptying bins etc.
Although obviously it's a great space for a knees-up, this is not a party house and we don't bring the entire pub back home. We like a peaceful, homely vibe.
You would be sharing with 5 others plus an elusive fluffy black cat. There are currently 4 girls and 1 guy with an average age of 35. Working in/as, freelance fashion creative/lecturer, freelance researcher/psychotherapist, graphic designer/photographer, psychotherapy/music.
There isn’t a tv in the living room; (although we do sometimes set up a projector for film nights) we much prefer the endangered pastime of conversation and can have a healthy debate on pretty much any topic - nothing is taboo.
We occasionally like to cook for each other, healthy (ish!) food is definitely encouraged.
Interests include drag racing (seriously, actual ‘motor sport’ nothing to do with RuPaul - but stilettos are also popular in the house), philosophy, tiki, vintage vehicles, art, sewing/making things, cooking, pickling, vintage outfits, fashion, music and cheese.
Sorry we’re not looking for a couple and please no more bicycles! Unfortunately no cats or dogs, small pets in cages are ok (or maybe not for the pet!). Council Tax Band E
