New Warehousemate Wanted!
We’re looking for a new person to join our communal warehouse home from 1st July.
There are currently three of us living in the unit, and you’ll be taking over Alex’s room as he moves on. The two of us remaining, and Mark, are friendly, creative, enjoy a laugh, and occasionally embrace a bit of organised chaos. We’re hoping to find someone who is kind, considerate, self-aware, and generally a good egg.
Chenaye has an adorable cat called KitKat so you have to be okay with cats.
Our home is one of eight units within a small warehouse community of around 25–30 people. The wider building is home to people of different ages, backgrounds and nationalities, and while everyone engages to varying degrees, there is a genuine sense of community here.
Within our unit, there are three bedrooms and a bathroom branching off a large shared open-plan living space. This is where we cook, eat, socialise, work and occasionally collaborate on projects. There’s also plenty of desk and studio space for creative pursuits or working from home.
Upstairs there’s room for making, creating and other ventures, while outside you’ll find a large communal garden and workshop space. The garden backs directly onto the River Lea towpath, giving immediate access to walks, cycling routes and nature. Walthamstow Marshes and Hackney Marshes are both nearby, and there are parks in either direction, making it easy to escape into green space despite being in London.
One thing worth mentioning: warehouse living has many perks, but sound travels easily. We all try to be mindful of noise and appreciate having a calm, considerate home environment, so we’re looking for someone who feels comfortable with that too.
We’re proudly queer-positive and neurodivergent-friendly.
The warehouse sits on a Hasidic Jewish industrial estate and the surrounding area is largely Hasidic too, which contributes to the generally quiet and safe feel of the neighbourhood.
