I have a double room available in the Grade II listed Alexandra Road Estate, NW8. This is a rare opportunity to live in one of London's most significant modernist housing estates, within a friendly and longstanding community brought together by a shared love of architecture and culture.

The room is part-furnished with a bed, mattress and wardrobe, and would suit a professional in their 30s.

The bedroom is a double with a shared bathroom on the ground floor. The room invites in lots of light through large windows that look out over the front garden and a quiet, pedestrianised street.

The house is very spacious, split over three levels with a beautiful handmade 1970s open wooden staircase which takes you up to an expansive open plan kitchen/dining room lined with windows, plentiful concrete worktops and plywood cabinetry. On the next floor up is an open plan living room and library with French windows onto a roof terrace suitable for dining and BBQ'ing. It's a really unique house and if you like modernism, concrete and plants, you're in for a treat!

The house is a 4-minute walk from South Hampstead overground station (one stop to Euston) and an 8-minute walk to Swiss Cottage on the Jubilee line (3 stops to Bond Street). You can be in central London in 20 minutes. There are lots of places that can be easily walked to, such as The Freud Museum, Camden Art Centre, Primrose Hill, Regent's Park, Hampstead Heath and there are various nice local restaurants and pubs too.

I am a university lecturer in art/sociology and I'm looking for a new housemate to join me, my partner, a doctor, and my other friend who is a lecturer in architecture.

We enjoy cooking, reading and watching films but are relaxed and respectful of private space. We’re a very clean, quiet and tidy house with plenty of space. If you're the same or similar, get in touch!

If you seem like a good fit, I will invite you for an informal viewing and conversation. When decisions have been made, I will require a deposit to be paid of one month's rent to secure the room. You will be subletting from me directly and a contract will be provided.

The rent includes heating and hot water, and the remaining bills are payable to me monthly totalling approx. £120 per person (electricity, council tax, tv licence, internet, twice-monthly cleaner). The house is in council tax band D.
