2 double rooms in friendly queer house in SE15

Hello! We have two rooms available in our 4-bed house in a gated close near Burgess Park. The previous housemates were a couple who have now decided to move in together. We’re looking for queer-friendly housemates who would like to stay for at least 9 months, ideally longer. We’re open to hearing from individuals looking for one room, or pairs looking to take both rooms. :) The rooms are definitely available from the 18th of October, but could also be available sooner if needed.

The Rooms
Both available rooms are double rooms, with ample storage and space for a desk if you need one. One room (the one on the second floor) is a bit smaller, so we have priced them differently, but we are open to negotiating the rent split later on! :)

We split bills evenly, which usually add up to £150-£170/month, including gas, electricity, water, wifi, and council tax.

Shared Spaces/Amenities
* Both new housemates will share the common bathroom with one current housemate (toilet and bath/shower, seen in Picture C). We also have another toilet on the ground floor.
* We have a fully furnished kitchen/living room area (Pictures F and G)
* We have a garden with an apple tree which we are keen to spend more time tending to (Picture H)
* We have a garage which we use for storage & bikes
* Since the house is in a close, we have a parking space in front of the house

The Location
The house is in a gated close a few minutes' walk south of Burgess Park. This puts us about a 15-minute walk from both Peckham and Camberwell, both of which have everything you need and good transport links. Getting to the centre is straightforward with a 15-minute bus ride to Elephant and Castle tube station. We are also close to Southampton Way, which has the essentials (e. g., Tesco, offies, etc.).

About Us
The two of us (Charlie and Dave) have lived in this house for a few years now, so we’ve really come to know and love both the house and the area. We like to have a communal house, where everyone does their best to keep the place tidy, comfy and welcoming. During the week, we often cook individually, but also enjoy planning house dinners or movie/game nights together every once in a while. Our partners often come to visit, so it’s a friend- and partner-friendly house, while still respecting everyone’s space.

Charlie
I am a 34-year-old person who mostly balances their time between attending acupuncture college and managing a specialty cafe in Brixton. My main pastimes are board and video games, gardening, swimming, running, and tea and coffee. I love to cook and usually bake something fun every few weeks. Between college and cafe work I’m not around a lot during the day but love to have a chill evening cooking and relaxing in the communal areas. I also help take care of a beautiful greyhound called Myrtle who you will see hanging around the house on my days off. I am generally a relaxed person who doesn’t like to treat their life with a great rush or urgency, and loves to keep things chill.

Dave
I’m a 26-year-old PhD student studying green software engineering. I am primarily remote, so I'm usually in the office one day a week and at home otherwise. Outside of work, I enjoy a mix of activities (although I am looking to get into more outdoor/active hobbies!). Recently, I have been invested in learning how to make more things, whether that’s sourdough, jam or candles. I also spend some time playing video games (primarily Tetris). On weekends, I often plan a day out (gallery, museum, cinema, etc.) and then have a cosy night in.

About You
We are looking for housemates who are calm and interested in building a comfortable and open communal space together. Ideally, you would be within our age range, queer-friendly, and open to friends coming over. Bonus points if you like dogs, since we often dog-sit for our friends’ lovely greyhound, Myrtle, so anyone moving in would need to be comfortable with that.
