Hi! I’m looking for someone to take over my room in a lovely queer-friendly shared flat from 1st August.

The room is in a shared flat in the Nunhead/Peckham area. It’s a really nice, relaxed home with two bathrooms, a large shared living room, and a small rear balcony. The room will come partly furnished: I’ll be leaving the bed frame and wardrobe, though I’ll be taking my mattress. Other furniture, such as a desk/drawers, may also be available and can be discussed.

The household is generally queer/LGBTQ+ friendly, and I’d ideally love to find someone queer or LGBTQ+ in some way, or someone who would feel very comfortable and respectful in that kind of household. You’d be able to meet the flatmates when viewing the room.

Rent is £807 per month, with a £807 deposit. Bills are usually around £100 per month, though they can be a bit higher in winter when the heating is on.

Please note that the landlady will require three months of bank statements, three months of payslips, and a copy of your passport to be emailed over as part of the referencing/process.

The landlady is genuinely lovely — very friendly, relaxed, reasonable, and accommodating. She replies promptly, and she and her husband are both really nice and good at getting things fixed when needed. They’re the kind of landlords who actually ask how you’re settling in, which I’ve really appreciated.

Location-wise, it’s very convenient. Nunhead station is around a 10–15 minute walk away, and Peckham Rye station is about 15 minutes away. Peckham Rye Park is around 10 minutes away, and Nunhead Cemetery is also very close, both of which are lovely for walks and quieter time outside. Rye Lane is about a 10-minute walk, and East Dulwich is around 20 minutes away on foot. There are also direct buses into central London, including night buses.

There are lots of nice places nearby, including pubs, cafes, shops, and quieter green spaces. The Old Nun’s Head, a nice queer-friendly pub, is just down the road. There’s also a Costcutter literally below the flat, run by the landlady, which is extremely convenient for quickly grabbing anything you need.

On a personal note, I’ve lived here for a year and this has genuinely been my favourite place I’ve lived. I’m going to miss it a lot, and I’m only moving out because I’m relocating to Leeds for personal reasons.

The room is available from 1st August and would need to be paid for from then. There may be some flexibility for someone to move in a few days earlier, but moving in later would still require rent from 1st August.

Message me if you’re interested, and please tell me a bit about yourself.
