Bright Double Room - Plaistow Station 3bed 2bath

Hey! We’re looking for someone to take over a furnished double room in our 3-bed house in Plaistow.

I’ve been living in this room since March, but I’ll be moving into the en-suite room when our current housemate moves out, so I know the room/house very well and can answer pretty much anything about it.

1. The room

It’s a cosy double room, but with the right layout it feels surprisingly spacious. It comes furnished with:

* Double bed
* Wardrobe
* Chest of drawers available if wanted

There’s a big south-facing window, so the room gets loads of natural light throughout the day. Full disclosure: because it’s south-facing it can get quite warm during the hottest part of summer, but the sunlight is great for the other 11 months of the year!

The TV and other bits you can see in the photos are mine and will be moving with me. I’ll also fill the TV mounting holes before the new tenant moves in.

2. The house

It’s a 3-bed, 2-bathroom house. I’ll have the en-suite upstairs, so you’d share the other bathroom with just one other person.

We have a large shared living room with a huge sofa which is really cosy in the evenings. It’s generally pretty quiet during the day and gets used casually in the evenings rather than constantly.

The kitchen has a fridge-freezer, washing machine, microwave and air fryer.

We also have very fast broadband with a mesh Wi-Fi system covering upstairs, a cleaner who comes once a month, and the area itself is generally quiet.

3. Location

Plaistow Station is only around a 4–5 minute walk away, with both the District and Hammersmith & City lines, so getting into central is easy.

For reference, I work around Old Street and it normally takes me around 30–40 minutes door-to-door.

Stratford is also very close and easy to get to, which gives you access to Westfield, the Elizabeth line, Central line, Jubilee line, DLR and National Rail.

The Gym Group and Co-op are around a 3-minute walk away, and there’s a local corner shop literally around the corner from the house. We’re also just off the main Plaistow Road area, so most everyday stuff is within easy walking distance.

4. Parking

Resident parking permits are available for the local restricted zone for roughly £120–£130 a year. Cheap visitor permits are also available, and we should be able to arrange another resident permit if you have a car.

5. Who you’ll be living with

There’ll be three of us in total.

I’m an AI Deployment Consultant and work quite a lot. I’m pretty ambitious/work-focused but very laid-back outside of work. I moved to London in November and am originally from Cheshire (near Manchester).

Manny is a Senior Researcher who’s lived in the house for a few years. He’s from Australia and was a DJ for around 20 years. He’s super chilled, works a lot himself but is also sociable and generally very easy to live with. He turned 48 last month, but somehow still looks about 30!

We get along really well and the house has a pretty mature, relaxed dynamic. We’re friendly and happy to chat/hang out, but nobody expects everyone to constantly socialise and we all respect each other’s space.

We’d ideally like another working professional on a similar wavelength - someone independent, considerate and easy to live with, who has their life together but also doesn’t take themselves too seriously.

It’s definitely not a party house, but not a library either.

6. Bills

Bills are split between the three of us and typically work out at around £150–£200 per person per month, including council tax, broadband, utilities and the monthly cleaner.

7. Availability

The room will definitely be available from 1 December, although it may become available as early as 1 November if our current housemate moves earlier.

It’ll be a new 12-month joint tenancy, with some flexibility to leave with notice if circumstances change.
