Overview:
A beautiful, generously sized double room is available for a five-month sublet from 5th January to 5th June 2027 in a bright, modern and thoughtfully furnished two-bedroom flat, just moments from Stoke Newington Church Street. I will be away travelling during this period and returning to the flat afterwards, so this is a temporary sublet of my own much-loved bedroom and home. I will be leaving the furniture, artwork, plants, books, vinyl records, lighting and decorative pieces I have collected over the years, while removing my clothing and private personal belongings. So the wardrobe, dressers, bedside drawers, desk storage and other practical storage spaces will be completely emptied and ready for the new occupant to unpack and make the bedroom feel like their own.
The interiors are warm, characterful and carefully considered, drawing on Japanese, Scandinavian and mid-century design: teak woods, clean lines, sculptural forms, vintage finds, collected artwork and an abundance of plants. There should be no need to purchase bedding, towels, cookware, crockery or basic household items for the new occupant so this would be particularly ideal for someone newly arriving in London who would like a comfortable and established home while settling into the city.
The living space:
The open-plan living, dining and kitchen area is unusually spacious for a London flat, with tall ceilings, a clean modern finish and plenty of natural light. The west-facing living room has a large bank of windows and receives beautiful afternoon and evening sunlight. It is furnished with a large corner sofa, cushions, coffee table, rug, plants, framed artwork, side tables, sculptural lighting and a collection of original and mid-century-inspired furniture. There is a TV and record player, and you would be very welcome to enjoy my vinyl collection and books, I'd just ask that they are treated with care and returned. Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Prime are also available and included in the rent.
Kitchen and dining area:
The recently fitted kitchen is modern, spacious and fully equipped with:
-Oven and induction hob
-Large fridge-freezer
-Microwave
-Kettle and toaster
-Coffee machine and cafetières
-Plates, bowls, mugs and glasses
-Cutlery
-Pots, pans and cooking utensils
-Japanese kitchen knives
-Chopping boards
-Food-storage containers and jars
-Baking equipment
-Generous cupboard and countertop storage
It would be particularly well suited to someone who enjoys cooking or baking.
The dining area includes a mid-century dining table and chairs, along with a large asymmetrical wooden mirror.
The bedroom:
The bedroom is really spacious, east-facing and receives lovely morning light. It has tall ceilings, a blackout blind and plenty of room to work, read and relax. It will be fully furnished with:
-Double bed
-Bedding and bed linen
-Cushions
-Towels for personal use
-Large IKEA double sliding-door wardrobe and internal shoe rack
-Two mid-century bedside drawer units
-Mid-century dresser
-Bookshelf
-Glass desk
-Chrome Bertoia-style chair
-Additional reading chair
-Three individually sourced lamps
-Rug
-Framed artwork and decorative pieces
The bathroom and storage:
The bathroom is clean and modern, with a bath, overhead shower, heated towel rail and storage. The washing machine is housed in a hallway utility cupboard, with further household storage available within the flat.
The neighbourhood:
The flat is seconds from Stoke Newington Church Street, an area with a genuine neighbourhood feel and a lovely village-like atmosphere, while still offering everything you could want from London. Church Street and the surrounding roads are filled with independent bakeries, cafés, coffee shops, restaurants, wine bars, boutiques and vintage shops. There are also regular farmers’, craft and local makers’ markets, as well as a large Morrisons nearby for everyday shopping.
Clissold Park and Abney Park are both less than five minutes away on foot, while the canal is approximately a 20-minute walk. Dalston, Highbury and Finsbury Park are also nearby, providing easy access to further restaurants, shops, cultural spaces, music venues and nightlife.
Public transport:
The nearest bus stop is approximately 30 seconds from the flat, with frequent services into Central and East London. There are also convenient Overground connections nearby.
Who you will be sharing with:
You will be sharing with one other female in her late thirties who works in the music industry. She regularly works from home during the day and is often out working in the evenings and at night. The atmosphere is friendly, welcoming and sociable, while remaining calm and considerate rather than a party flat.
We are looking for a female or non-binary person. Someone clean, friendly and respectful who appreciates a peaceful, thoughtfully furnished home would be an ideal fit. We would love to find someone independent who will feel at home here and enjoy the space as much as we do.
