Cabin on a Dutch Barge

Single Cabin available from Friday 9th of October 2026, 10 month contract. £875 per month including council tax and bills except energy. Last year diesel+electricity was around £55 per person per month, with usage higher in the winter and lower in the summer.

The boat has a permanent morning, in Greenland Dock which is part of South Dock Marina. The spare cabin is in the bow with a skylight and portholes, it has a single bed, cupboards, drawers and a wardrobe. There’s a curtain entrance, but feels private at the end of a corridor.

We share an open plan kitchen and wheelhouse on two levels. The kitchen has the usual amenities, as well as a washing machine, and even stained glass windows. The washroom has a shower, basin, and loo. There’s also a communal toilet and shower block within the dock.

The electricity, water, and fibre optic internet come from a bollard we are plugged into on the walkway. Post and deliveries are sent to the Lock Office beside the dock so you don’t need to stay home to sign for things. The dock is safe and friendly, you need a special fob to get in so it’s secure, and we have very good neighbours!

My name is Robbie, and the boat belongs to my mum Olivia, who lives elsewhere. I’m 30 and have lived on the boat for a decade. In the middle cabin is Hannah who’s in her mid thirties and has been here for 3 years (we’re not a couple). Hannah works for a company making merchandise for musicians, and I’m an artist and carpenter. Happy to answer any questions.
