Double Room in Relaxed, Characterful Home

Looking for a calm, grown-up, well-kept home with a dash of character?

I’ve been successfully Airbnb-ing the room for the past year (reviews available) but I’m now looking for a bit less turnover and a bit more continuity: someone who wants a comfortable home rather than simply somewhere to sleep.

The house is clean, cosy and well organised, with plenty of storage, fast broadband and space for a bike.

Out back there’s a secure little green patio with a picnic table and BBQ for occasional mild conviviality. I’m also experimenting with what I can keep alive in pots, and cultivating a small aquarium using the Walstad Method — basically trying to persuade an ecosystem to do most of the work itself.

Me: I’m a friendly, curious, slightly nerdy self-employed tech professional. I’m working from home quite a lot at the moment and tend to disappear into my own zone when I’m working.

I enjoy conversation during breaks or at the end of the day over tea, and occasionally a shared meal, but I’m equally happy with people doing their own thing. I value good communication, consideration and being able to say what you need without drama.

I’m aiming for a relaxed household where people can feel comfortable being themselves. I’m basically the woke uncle in my family.

A few local details:

- Bell Green retail park is about 5 minutes’ walk away, with Aldi and a frankly enormous Sainsbury’s.
- Mayow Park, Home Park and a lovely little community library are also nearby.
- Sydenham, Lower Sydenham and Penge East stations are all within walking distance.
- Lime and Forest bikes are usually scattered around locally if you’re in a hurry.
