The house is a 2 min walk from Sydenham Wells park, 5 mins walk from Crystal Palace Park. 10 min walk from Sydenham station, 20 min walk from Crystal Palace station.
I’m a queer woman working in theatre. I am out most evenings (mainly cinema, theatre press nights, bouldering, gym, seeing friends) and I work from home 4 out of 5 days a week. I love peace and quiet and spend my time in the house reading, pottering (cleaning, repotting plants, worrying about my cats, being therapised, rearranging my sock drawer…). I drink a lot… a lot… of… TEA! Rarely drink alcohol.
The house is sort of like a creative and personal quiet sanctuary for me, I do most of my socialising out of the house.
My house is in between two lovely young families, who we don't hear much of! They are nice neighbours who are quiet and very active with their gardens (putting me to shame!) However I have a gardener that comes bi-weekly.
I am an introvert. I do like a good chat every now and then but tbh my home is generally quiet / alone time for me. I like having someone around but hoping to cultivate some happy relaxed silence like what I have with a few of my other neurospicy friends. I floated the idea of having the sofa area be a more quiet space and the dining area being a more social space but maybe I am overthinking this. I like clear boundaries and clear communication. Also prefer to have a cleaning schedule, but ofc we can discuss this.
The kitchen is small but there is so much cupboard space.
The sound does travel a bit in the house - I’ll probably watch a film once or twice a week. Which you may hear in your bedroom. But perhaps we can talk about a rule that we won't watch a film on the TV on a weeknight later than 11pm?
I have been seeing someone for 6 months, and I am at her place around about 2 nights a week and she will stay over here 2 nights a week. But I’ll always tell you when she’s coming over and when I’ll be at hers. She’s quite introverted too! Occasionally I will have a friend or family member staying overnight.
I am away roughly 1 weekend a month - meditation retreats, camping weekends, staying with family, and travel for work quite a bit so at these times you will have the house to yourself.
The room is a small double. It comes with a desk. 750PCM, all bills included. The room is available for 3 months to begin with. And from then if we like living together we can do a year’s contract.
The cats. Chico and Boo. Needy, chatty, and very very cuddly!! While away I’d need the housemate to feed them, give Chico his medicine (dropped in his food every morning), clean the litter trays, and take them to the vets in an emergency. I realise this is a big responsibility hence why the rent is a little lower than the going rate. Additionally to this, we’d need to communicate in advance when we’re going on trips so I can see whether I would need to get a cat sitter if we are both away.
Ideally the room suits someone who will be working or studying away from home during weekdays, a cat lover who is happy to look after the cats when I am away, and someone also valuing a peaceful home environment.
No overnight guests please.
Sorry. no cis men.
