Beautiful Double Room in Lovely Mews, N19

Ad ref# 3929985

WANTED: SOMEONE TO MOVE INTO OUR BEAUTIFUL HOME IN NORTH LONDON.

We're looking for a lovely person to move into our house in Upper Holloway. We've got a big en-suite room available from 5 October.

The Room
---------

A very large first-floor double room with en-suite and private balcony doors, fully furnished with solid oak (bed, big wardrobe, a chest of drawers and two bedside cabinets). It's super bright and airy.

Since 2013 it's been a happy home for two lovely couples who are still close friends of ours. They lived here consecutively, not at the same time! We're looking for a single flatmate at the moment, but hopefully that gives some idea of the size.

The House
---------------
The house is in a lovely little gated Mews, which means it's quiet and very secure away from the road. There's a large enclosed front yard across the whole house that gets the sunshine in the mornings, and through most of the day in summer. It's a great place with a wall full of flowers and plants to sit and look at whilst having a coffee :)

The kitchen is big, modern, light and very nice to cook in. It's got a new washing machine, a big new fridge/freezer and dishwasher, loads of storage and a good modern cooker. There's also an Amazon Echo, so you can chat to Alexa if you're cooking on your own.

The living room is very spacious, the windows are giant and the ceiling is high, so it's very light and airy, which is lovely in the mornings.

Finally, there's a door-buzzer by the gate to the mews, which is good security.

All the bedrooms have their own bathroom and toilet and there's a spare toilet downstairs too. We've got fast broadband and a TV with with Netflix, Amazon Prime, Spotify etc. in the living room. There's no smoking indoors but no problem with smoking outside.

Being in a private mews we've become very good friends with the other folks who live here and we regularly hang out together. Our neighbours Helen & Alex used to live with us, moved away, and then moved back next door. We often have spontaneous BBQs in the summer, which is brilliant, and we've just acquired a screen and projector for open-air screenings of our favourite films and concerts.

The fact that we can knock on our neighbour's door and borrow a tea bag is absolutely wonderful and probably quite unusual. So bear in mind you'd be joining a little community as well as a house-share.

The People
--------------
Because that's much more important than the house, really!!

You'd be living with Danny, Janina & Matthias.

Danny's lived here for over seven years and works in tech. He's worked with various startups, built a company teaching people how to code, ran a web design agency and had a brief stint playing blues in the bars and streets of Brighton. He still enjoys a jam in the lounge every now and then.

Janina's lived here for over four years and works as a freelance fashion stylist for different brands and is dressing musicians and actors. She loves to illustrate and is into lettering and happily takes care of personalised cards for the housemates upcoming birthdays. She’s from Germany and has a hard time pronouncing caramelised right so don’t make her say it EVER :)

Matthias just moved to London 6 months ago to pursue a PhD in Neuroscience, and now spends most of his time looking at brains. Outside of the lab, he can usually be found climbing in the Castle or exploring London’s theatres and clubs. At home, he enjoys cooking and reading good books.

All three of us work from home a lot and did even before Covid reared its ugly head. We're very used to it and if working from home is new to you, we know how to make it work.

We're all partial to cider-fuelled (Janina) or red-wine-fuelled (Danny) or (Matthias) pale-ale-fuelled chats which variously touch on art, philosophy, history and the state of education.

We're all good-humoured and get on *really* well. We're love a glass of wine and natter in the evenings but enjoy dinner nights in and drinks at the great local pubs in equal measure.

We're all very tidy and care about keeping our home in a good state.

The Area
------------
We're within easy walking distance of Finsbury Park, Archway, and Crouch Hill as well as the Holloway Road, all of which host a bunch of eateries and pubs if you're into eating and drinking. If you're into running, the park and old railway line are lovely and green. There's a Tesco about 10 minutes walk away and numerous little supermarkets and shops within a couple of minutes.

Upper Holloway Station (overground) is about 5-10 minutes away and Archway Station (Northern line, handy for the City, South London and a lot of other places) is about 15 minutes walk. Finsbury Park (Piccadilly, Victoria and National Rail) is 15-20 mins walk in the other direction. There's a bus stop just round the corner (20 minutes to Kings Cross or Angel, 30 mins to Old St/Shoreditch).

Numbers
-------------

We share the bills equally. Council Tax (£50.75), Electric (£66.66), Internet (£11.25), and Maria (our lovely cleaner who comes every two weeks - £28.71). So all our bills (bar water) cost £157.37 per month each, which everyone pays along with the rent and go out automatically.

The only bill that varies is water, which is about £40 each every six months.

What we're looking for
---------------------------
The house is most definitely a home rather than a place to sleep and stare at the telly, so we're looking for someone who's going to be a part of that. We eat together now and again and would really like you to be part of this too.

We're after someone that won't always disappear upstairs if we're having a drink together or playing a board game or some music.

Most adverts seem to ask for 'an easy-going like-minded person', but since we won't know if you're easy-going until we've met you it probably makes sense for you to send us a message on here to arrange a viewing and a drink :)

If you're able to send us a little bit about you when you say hello we'd appreciate it (we're getting quite a lot of interest).

If you're interested, drop us a line. We'd love to show you our home in person and have a drink in the garden or pub around the corner.

Looking forward to hearing from you!
