Hello, future flatmate.

We're a friendly, creative couple looking for a considerate professional to share our bright two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment in a converted Georgian townhouse between Vauxhall and Oval.

The flat has high ceilings, lots of natural light, plenty of character and, inevitably, the occasional creaky wooden floorboard. It's a relaxed, sociable home rather than a silent monastery, but it isn't a party flat.

Your room is a sunny, rear-facing furnished double with:

Double bed
Wardrobe and separate dresser/storage cabinet
Desk and chair
Full-length mirror
We have two bathrooms. Ours is en-suite, so the main bathroom would essentially be yours, aside from the occasional dog bath. We will, naturally, leave it clean afterwards rather than presenting you with a damp French bulldog crime scene.

The large shared lounge and dining room is comfortable and homely, with books, plants, plenty of seating, a dining table and smart TV. The style is probably best described as bohemian, although there are fewer tambourines than that word might suggest.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine and fridge-freezer.

We also have a spacious south-facing terrace, accessed through the separate study/editing room. It's brilliant in summer for barbecues, relaxing outside and the occasional impromptu film night.

Vauxhall station: approximately four minutes' walk
Oval station: approximately eight minutes' walk
The Victoria and Northern lines, National Rail services and numerous buses make getting around London extremely easy.

👋 About us

We're a laid-back couple who both work partly from home and value a calm, friendly and communicative atmosphere.

🎬 I'm a filmmaker, writer and editor. I sometimes work later in the evening, although always quietly and with headphones. I'm interested in cinema, books, meditation, DIY and almost anything involving making something unnecessarily elaborate by hand.

👨‍🍳 My partner is a professional chef who loves cooking and is gradually building a vinyl collection.

🐕 We also live with a very charming French bulldog. She enjoys cuddles, films and maintaining an extensive local social network, so a genuine liking for dogs is essential.

🎵 Music is a regular part of life here, although we're conscientious about volume and each other's schedules.

🚬 For complete transparency, I smoke roll-up tobacco, primarily outside on the terrace. We drink occasionally but aren't big drinkers. This is a drug-free home.

📋 A few practical things

Working from home: We can accommodate someone working remotely 1–2 days per week. Any more than that and the flat begins to feel overcrowded.

Overnight guests: Friends and partners are welcome, but overnight stays are limited to a maximum of two nights per week, with a heads-up beforehand. The room is for single occupancy only.

Shared spaces: They're there to be enjoyed by everyone. We simply ask that nobody camps out in them around the clock.

Communication: We're not looking for constant chat, just someone polite and straightforward who can raise things before they become weird.

🎯 Who we're looking for

A mature, considerate and reasonably tidy professional who wants a peaceful, welcoming home. Someone who, crucially, is not Jennifer Jason Leigh in Single White Female. If you don't get the reference, ask AI. If you do get the joke, we'll probably get on.

We're not militant about teaspoons or passive-aggressive about washing-up. We simply want someone decent who respects boundaries, contributes to a pleasant atmosphere and is happy to share the occasional meal, film or drink.
