Bright double room in a quiet, relaxed home

I’m a 40-year-old woman currently in the final stages of writing up my PhD thesis. I live here on my own at the moment and am looking for the right person to share the house with — partly for some company, but also to help me save a bit for the uncertain post-PhD world!

The room is a lovely, light double with a cosy double bed and plenty of space. There is currently a clothes rail and a set of drawers, and I’m happy to discuss any additional furniture needs with the right person.

The shared areas include a reception room, living room, kitchen and bathroom. The bathroom has a particularly massive bath, although there is no standing shower.

About the household

At the moment, life here is pretty quiet. I work from home most of the time and can usually be found tapping away at my computer on my thesis. I don’t drink much, rarely have people over and generally keep things fairly peaceful.

I’m also very much an early bird — usually in bed early and up around 5–6am. The house has slightly creaky stairs (combined with 40-year-old knees!), so someone who is comfortable with an early-rising household would probably be the best fit.

I’m looking for a considerate, mature and respectful housemate who is comfortable sharing a home rather than simply renting a room. Someone independent, tidy and fairly quiet would suit the household particularly well. I’ve learnt from previous house-sharing experience that getting the right fit is important to me, so I’d like to meet and have a proper chat before agreeing anything.

This probably isn’t the ideal house for someone looking for a very sociable or party-oriented household, but it could be a really comfortable home for someone who appreciates a calm, friendly place to live.

Council tax

As I am a full-time student, the property is currently exempt from Council Tax. I would therefore particularly welcome another full-time student or someone else who is Council Tax exempt/disregarded. If you are liable for Council Tax, we would need to discuss the additional cost.
