Large double room in Victorian cottage
Large room on first floor in lovely Victorian cottage with bags of character. The room has a double bed with "ortho supreme" mattress with memory foam and a lovely big double-glazed sash window which lets in lots of light and floods the room with sunlight in the afternoon and evening.
There is a bathroom, shared with just me, which is on the same floor as the rented room. The only other bedroom in the house is on the top floor, so you would have your own space.
Downstairs, there is a charming sitting/dining room area with comfy sofas, a dining table and a large stone inglenook fireplace. The kitchen includes a new American style fridge-freezer and a big range cooker. There is also a dishwasher and a washing machine. All crockery etc. is supplied.
The back garden is a good size with a small Victorian stone outhouse at the end, so there is no shortage of storage space. There is a patio with a BBQ which you are welcome to use.
All bills are included, including superfast fibre optic broadband. A personal Netflix account is included in the rent.
I live with my dog River (pictured). She is an extremely well-behaved small lurcher. She is a lovely presence to have around the house and is always available for a cuddle on the sofa. She never barks (literally - she's so quiet!) and is very friendly and easy to be around (she's not an "in-your-face" kind of dog and will wait for you to approach her if you feel like it). The housemate would not be expected to take any responsibility for her.
Possibility of keeping small pets in your room, if desired. Possibility of bringing your dog with you pending successful meet with River; extra rent and/or deposit to be negotiated.
Although there is no official parking space, there is a free car park 30 seconds' walk away for residents of this row of cottages. There is also a layby which fits 5 cars across the road and a side road around the corner with free parking. Parking is not time-limited. I have never had any trouble parking close to the house.
Before moving into this house, I lived in shared rented accommodation for over 10 years. I had dozens of housemates during this time, and get on with all kinds of people. I am hoping to find a housemate, rather than a lodger - I hope that we can live in the house as equals, and am more than happy for you to bring friends over, have a birthday party, grow your own veg in the garden and generally make yourself at home.
I'm looking for someone friendly who would like to chat over a cup of tea or watch a film. However, I like my own company too, so I am happy for you to do your own thing!
Non-smokers only, please.
Witney is a beautiful old town with a lot to offer. There's a great social scene here (in non-Covid times!) and lots to do. The house is within Witney itself and is less than 10 minutes' walk from the town centre, where there are lots of lovely gastro pubs, restaurants, bars, a couple of night clubs, a brewery, coffee shops, shopping, a cinema and supermarkets. There are also quite a lot of beer festivals, food fairs etc. Witney has lots of young professionals and there's a friendly "Meet-Up" group. The house is ideally placed for Oxford, as it is to the east of the town (one of the nicest areas of Witney), and the bus stop from Oxford is about 20 seconds from the front door.
