Homeshare available in Galashiels

An outgoing and friendly elderly man (Tony) is seeking a Sharer for his home to give him a mix of 10 hours of help and company each week in exchange for low-cost accommodation in his house.

This two-story detached house has a private single-bed bedroom. The shared areas include two living rooms, a kitchen, bathrooms, and a lovely garden. Facilities include fast Wi-Fi, a washing machine, dryer, TV, and on-street parking. The property is located on a cul-de-sac in Galashiels, close to the River Tweed by the Eildon Hills on the edge of town, with easy access to the countryside. It is a 5-minute drive or a 25-minute walk into town, where there are many gyms, shopping centres, restaurants, and more. The property is also a 5-minute drive or a 20-minute walk away from the Borders College/Heriot-Watt University Joint campus, and a 6-minute drive away from the Borders General Hospital. All locations can be reached by public transport.

Tony is mainly looking for companionship and would welcome both male and female sharers, but would ideally prefer a female. Tony is profoundly deaf and communicates through lipreading rather than sign language. He is recovering from a stroke and would therefore value a caring and considerate Sharer. Tony has a love of the mountains and the outdoors, and has now regained his mobility, but is impacted by the lack of personal transport. Due to his being unable to drive at the moment, a Sharer who is able to drive a manual car or a motorhome would be appreciated, but not required.

The homeowner's ideal Sharer will be friendly, kind and reliable, who has some common interests and would enjoy sharing interesting stories together over a cup of tea or an evening meal. Smoking is permitted, provided it’s done outside or in the garage if the weather is bad. Pets permitted in certain cases.
