Comfortable, spacious ground-floor room in friendly Shrewsbury home

A bright, very well-furnished ground-floor single room has just become available in our comfortable modern townhouse, less than a mile from Shrewsbury town centre. We are looking for a friendly, considerate working professional who would like to make this their home on a longer term basis.

The room has just been completely refreshed for its new occupant, with a brand-new good-quality mattress, new hypoallergenic bedding and freshly prepared décor. It is unusually well equipped for a single room, with a large triple wardrobe, two six-drawer IKEA MALM chests, desk/dressing table and chair, full-length mirror and plenty of sockets. In other words, there is genuinely enough storage to unpack properly and settle in, rather than live out of suitcases!

The room has a large double-glazed window with a custom-made day/night blind and substantial lined curtains which make the room very dark when required. Immediately next door is a cloakroom with WC and washbasin, particularly convenient for the ground-floor room.

The location gives you a rather nice combination of town and country. Shrewsbury town centre and railway station are around a 15–20 minute walk away, with an excellent bus service practically outside the door. A Tesco Express, One Stop, hairdresser and takeaways are less than five minutes' walk, while a large Morrisons is around ten minutes' walk. About 100 metres in the other direction and you're onto quiet country lanes, with lovely walks and cycle routes nearby.

The house itself is warm, comfortable and a real home, rather than an anonymous HMO. You'll be sharing with the live-in landlady and one long-standing male lodger, and we're looking for somebody who will enjoy being part of a friendly, relaxed and respectful household. We chat, laugh and occasionally put the world to rights, but equally understand that everyone needs their own space and privacy.

You'll have use of the shared kitchen and household facilities, including washing machine, dishwasher and fridge/freezer, plus fast broadband/Wi-Fi, bathroom with shower and bath, and a comfortable living room. There is also a garden and possible use of the secure garage by arrangement. A cleaner comes fortnightly for the shared areas.

All household bills are included in the monthly rent, so there are no separate gas, electricity, water, council tax or broadband bills to worry about.

We're particularly hoping to find a mature working professional looking for longer term let. Because this is our home as well as yours, finding someone who will be a good fit matters to us just as much as the practical details.

We don't mind if you smoke, but please note there is no smoking allowed inside the house.
