Room to rent in Portishead/ Bristol

Room - before current flatmate

A cool double room with double bed, blue wall and chalkboard wall, blinds, clothes rail, corner desk, angle poise lamp, and RGB LED main room light: in a coach house 4min walk to the marina and waterfront in Portishead.

We are fully furnished, including a lovely living room (pictured) which is more music oriented (Vinyl and CD) and good sounds, rather than TV. The kitchen is small but we have the usual cooker, Air Fryer (used as an oven - more economical), large fridge and great coffee beans and it's easy to keep the common areas clean. There's an LG washer/dryer. And a fully soundproofed drum room / studio below the house. It's not a party house, more of a sanctuary.

Me (the flatmate):
The atmosphere here is very chill, and I am a very relaxed arts and music nerd making my way out of the media industry (DIrector/ Video Production HOD) studying for Lev3 Sports Massage (the job AI can't take) while freelancing photography and video production, and weekly teaching music to kids and a couple of adults. Super positive and open - very active in our arts and music communities in Bristol, and love to talk creativity, motivation, teaching and inspiration.

I teach drums in the sound-proofed studio below the house - and I and my close friends also host a weekly community Life Drawing workshop at the local Hobby Store. We are a wonderfully nerd-centric tribe: sciences, arts, music, crafts, psychology… etc and throw in a little cosplay and occasional gaming..

I am not loud, and prefer quiet community spaces. Alcohol (and rec. drugs) are very rare in our community (I know…not very Bristol of us!).

Rent:
All bills and tax (Council Tax Band B) is included. Once we agree on a rent payment date, it is not negotiable, to keep everything as simple as possible.

Reason the room is available:
My wonderful current flatmate is a young (early 20s) film-industry professional who is moving cities; closer to her job in TV. Sad times, but great decision for her!

Travel
It's 17mins to Bristol by car, 50mins by bus or cycling.
With most of my community life in Bristol and Clevedon, Portishead is a gorgeous lil town to come back home to.

Parking and security
Parking is on the small road outside. Flatmate had no issues parking here.
Because it's a coach house, there's one secure front door with deadlocks, and a garage that can be used as emergency access.

Portishead:
Posset is a calm and safe place, with plenty of women jogging around the marina, dogs, babies, swans, plenty of great coffee and cafe's here too.
The waterfront is lovely with a weird view of Newport then the avonmount docks, but we also have a heated Lido, clifftop pubs, and we have a large nature reserve - no need for a back garden!

The Neighbours:
We have great relationships with the neighbours.
And I have a wonderful friend-couple around the corner.

What I am looking for:
This is a very cool but small home, and so the balance needs to be right. My current flatmate (21) and I work very well together - (she's chatting through the bathroom wall right now lol). We have very independent lives, but usually catch up end of day, sometimes out.

I'm looking for someone who is chilled, clean, independent, a good communicator, and has a full life with no drama (it's possible!). Hopefully surreal and tangental humour, sociable and empathetic, facts-based, human-rights, LGBT+ ally. You know who you are :)

Love to find someone who is happy to clean as-we-go: we both replace essentials when needed (TP, Cleaning, Washing pods…). And occasionally get a treat and have a 'board meeting' to catch up on life and any house admin.

It would suit a professional, a visiting professional, or a 'mature' student, whatever the case, let's chat!
