About Bessie’s Cottage…

The three bedroomed grade 2 listed 17th century oak framed cottage which is set down a private lane in quiet spot overlooking the village green and fields. Has big garden and access to private orchards at back.

The 3 bedroomed house is in the Waveney Vally in North Suffolk. It is in the village of Ilketshall St Lawrence. Bungay is 7 minutes drive. Beccles and Halesworth is 15 mins away. Sizewell is less than 15mile away.
15 minutes from the park and ride.

You will be sharing only with me, so will have plenty of space but also privacy.

Your lovely big double bed room has beams and open ceiling, and a fabulous four poster bed.

You will have sole use of a big bathroom and toilet with roll top bath. Also shared use of shower and second toilet downstairs if need quick shower.

I have a large and really well equipped kitchen with all the amenities I. e. dishwasher, washing machine, dryer coffee machine, etc.

The comfy sitting room has a wood burner for cozy winter nights and pull out bed for visitors.

Happy to give you space if you need it or when entertaining guests etc. One of Sofa's pulls out to big double bed.

The garden is perfect for summer BBQ's. Has a natural pond and plenty of space for entertaining or camping.

The conservatory is perfect for breakfast and greenhouses full of tomatoes and cucumbers in the summer.

I have lush garden, so included are free share of fruit and vegetables from June until October. Then free apples and plums from the orchard. :-)..

There is a large private meadow and orchard at the back of the house, so plenty of space to spread out and have summer picnics in the summer.

There is private off-road car parking beside the cottage, which is at the end of a private dirt track just off and quiet B road.

Rent...

Rent includes all bills, i. e. heating oil, electricity, water, and wood for burner, internet, etc. You will have to sort out your council tax liability though.

The rent is £580 per month and will be £880 for couple. The rent is inclusive of all bills except for your council tax which you will need to sort out independently.

Type of housemate I’m looking for…


Looking to cohabit with polite and friendly housemate, who is easy to get along with.


Looking for person or couple who are working or fully time students. Also friendly and happy to contribute towards a clean, tidy and happy home.

I will respect your personal space at all times and give you space in the shared parts of my home when you want some time to yourself. The house is small but I am often busy and outside the home or just working in my office.

Prefer someone or a couple where at least most of the time they go to their workplace or at least have plenty of outside interests. I do however have a home office so might consider home based working.

Although I didn't tick the LBGT household box, I just wanted to say I'm comfortable with diversity of any kind and welcome anyone regardless of their sexual orientation, gender, nationality, or race.

About me---

You will be sharing with a single professional, who is friendly and easy to get along with. I’m by trade a scientist (PhD biologist) but now have a small tech company I run. I'm liberal, well travelled with grown up children and very much young at heart. Interested in fitness and adventure, art, music, the environment , film and photography, the natural world, music, engineering and science.
