Seeking a Ph.d student (female)

I am a retired English teacher, currently working in Italy. I like my flat to be occupied while I am away, but I keep a room for when I return (often at short notice) for short breaks.

I am looking for a female Ph. d student. (I prefer a woman as some of my neighbours are elderly and live alone).

I will occupy the single room for brief periods when I return to the UK but you will have the flat to yourself most of the time.

The room has a double bed, double wardrobe with shelf space, hanging space, a storage cupboard above. There is also a set of drawers (x 3 drawers) each side of the bed, and an office desk (you can use my monitor) with a bookshelf above. The other bookshelves are mostly full (my husband and I were both teachers) but I have made some shelf-space available.

The kitchen as all the usual things, but no freezer. (But the supermarket, Scotmid, is two minutes away, and open most nights until 10pm.) For clothes there is a washing machine, but no tumble dryer. Instead, I have an old-fashioned pulley where you hang your clothes near the ceiling. Clothes dry overnight.

This is a very peaceful place. All I ask is that you live quietly, so as not to disturb my neighbours, and keep the place clean. (The rent includes cleaning of kitchen, bathroom, toilet, and living room every four weeks.)

Parking in our narrow lane can be difficult, but there are good transport links. The bus 43 takes about 35-40 minutes to reach Edinburgh centre (longer in traffic). The bus stop is around the corner. The train from Dalmeny Station takes 20 minutes. The station is a 10 minute walk away. And you can get to/from Edinburgh Airport very easily (in 20 minutes) on the 747 bus which stops at the Forth Road Bridge, two blocks away. From my home. Very convenient.
