Huge Double Brilliant Location

We have a large wonderful room for rent in a brilliant location. Price includes: rent, water, gas & electricity, council tax, wifi, T. V. licence and weekly cleaner. So for budgeting purposes just under £161 per week and everything is covered (but we prefer pay monthly to make it simple).

It is just 16 mins walk to the city centre (5 mins by bike), 18 mins walk to the rail station, 1 min. to ASDA and the beehive, 4ish mins to the Grafton, 4 mins to Mill Road, doctors surgery you can see from the front door. The street we are on is a quiet residential road of mostly young professionals, a few families and some retired people. A couple of houses have become Cambridge University Graduate houses – mostly maths PhDs.

The room is huge, it is around 6m x 3m occupying the entire top floor so it feels private. We have split the room with a Kalax to provide a living area and sleeping area so it is feels more like a studio. We have created an 'own hall way vibe' as the space at the top of of the stairs has a coat rack, shoe rack, full length mirror. The room is furnished with a study area, double bed, bedside table, sofa and coffee table, double wardrobe, 2 x sturdy shelves in the alcoves. The bathroom is shared but is not stressed (3 people in a house which has 3 toilets); the kitchen is shared. We have a small garden perfect for summer BBQ’s. We have gas central heating and hot water (no waiting for water to heat up for a bath) and wifi.

Bikes are stored in the garden which is in an area accessed by a remote controlled resident's electric gate.

The room is offered for single occupancy. We are looking for a clean, quiet, friendly lodger who is either a young professional or post-graduate student. We cannot have couples because it would change our home into a HMO.

My husband is rent a maths-brain for a Tech company and I am a researcher. We are live-in landlords which means we care more about the house – no horrible décor and broken bits, and also our lodger’s happiness – no distant landlord it takes weeks to contact – we live down the hall.

Ben, an actor, is lodging with us for 9 weeks during a show in Cambridge.

We have two young house cats, Sir Rodger Penrose (a. k. a. Pen) and His Majesty Prince Ajax (a. k. a. Ajax). They are both friendly and mischievous, and make our home feel more homely.
