Recent graduate landlord seeks decent housemates.

Hi my name is Jack.

I’m 23 and have just graduated Engineering in Cardiff and am currently investigating self-employment.
I’m sharing with a Lebanese Business masters student. (23, Female)

I am looking for two more housemates of any gender provided they're clean and sociable. Young professionals would be ideal as then we could be splitting the council tax bill. (Woke up to that letter this June with a fright!)

But students willing to chip in their share are welcome. (Two doing that at the moment)

Please forgive the slightly out of date pictures of the comunal rooms; the house has changed a bit since then (for the better!) I don't have any more recent ones on my laptop at the moment but they give a pretty good idea of the place.

Every year I forget to take pictures of the rooms while they’re all beautiful and lived in and end up with last minute shots of them looking barren. Please use your imagination, think of them as a blank canvass to make your own …


Room 1

(Currently away from the room and don't have the measurements, but it's about 3m x 4. 5) It's the largest in the house. It's double room with a double bed. (Upstairs front)

Room 2

2. 15m (maximum) x 3. 15m (upstairs rear)

Both rooms have beds, cupboards, drawers, a desk and chair. I don’t keep the paintwork in immaculate condition so am very happy for you to use blue-tack on them and/or paint them to your own taste ( discussion required…)

The bills are estimated at around £50 per month payable, (plus council tax if applicable) but we usually see a chunk of this refunded when the balance is settled.

The house has a sitting room, decent kitchen (with a dishwasher, washer and drier) and a small garden.
There are decent bathrooms one with a bath and another with a pretty swanky shower :D

Recent additions to the house include a made over garden, Record player and Big Tv in the living room ☺

We're 2 minutes from the shops/nearest places to drink.
10 mins from the student’s union/main campus of Cardiff Uni.
10 mins from Cathays train station.
15-20 mins from the centre of town.

We also benefit from having a live-in owner (me) in that there'll be no agency fees and any maintenance problems that arise will get sorted much quicker.

The first, third and fourth year I did this I had amazing housemates, but the second year we suffered due to one of housemates being, in short, a filthy recluse!

Not just a bit dirty, beyond taking the mick…

So I’m keen to have someone a little more respectful and keen to get involved in social activities (not being locked in a bedroom)

My best housemate so far has been a French Law exchange student, so I am always open to some more nationalities in the house. I'm pretty good at German, and pretend to speak loads of other languages :D

I've found each year I've made lasting friendships with my housemates who then scatter to the four corners of the world on completion of their year.

Also...

I’m pretty into classic cars (and lately mopeds). The upshot of this is I’m pretty handy with a set of ratchet spanners so reasonably useful to have around if a car wont start in the morning.

Having just about finished restoring my first bike my next step is to construct some kind of secure (potentially sheltered) bike store on the front of the house.
So that could be handy if you were bringing one.

I have a couple of boats down in Cardiff bay and am always looking for crew :)
Where it says pets “yes” – I keep some fish in my bedroom (in a tank). And we have a lovely cat called Ness. Not necessarily opposed to more pets in the house.

Anyway, if you're a new basic member this site won't let me read emails.
