An intelligent, educated and interesting older person who is blind is seeking a Sharer for their home to give them a mix of 15 hours’ help and company each week in exchange for the low-cost accommodation.

This person likes to be as independent as possible but would appreciate the company of a Sharer for some intelligent conversation and humour, accompanying for the occasional walk around the block, reading mail, cooking a few simple meals, ad hoc other practical help and errands etc. They would value the friendly reassurance of having someone around their home in the evenings and overnight.

The accommodation on offer is a furnished double bedroom with its own shower room and share use of the kitchen, sitting room and large garden.

The property is in an excellent location close to tennis courts, golf course and the local woods. It is 100 meters to the closest bus stop and 10 mins walk to Moseley Village. It is approx. a 15-minute drive or 30 mins bus ride to Birmingham New Street Station.

The person was a lecturer and education consultant and is very up-to-date on current affairs. A life-long Guardian reader they also listen to Question Time and the BBC World Service. Because of their blindness they can’t have loud noises or strong cooking smells in the house as that can be very disorienting.

As a Sharer you are free to work or study as long as you have enough spare time to give the agreed level of company and support. The ideal Sharer will be a positive, friendly, kind, helpful and reliable non-smoker who ideally shares some of the person’s interests.
